TIFFIN — Mason Vent’s 25-point performance Saturday night probably looked familiar to Upper Sandusky fans. Like his older brother Wes did so many times before graduating this past spring, Mason scored inside and out as the Rams routed Tiffin Columbian, 67-35.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — A lopsided first quarter was all the Carey boys basketball team needed Friday to earn some revenge against Riverdale 83-58 in the opening game of the 2017-18 season. Carey smartly put the ball in the hands of 6-foot-7 forward Hayden Stone early.

Even when it seemed like nothing was going the Rams’ way, their lead was substantial enough to hold on. Upper Sandusky may have set a record for number of fouls committed in a boys basketball game, but key free throws by the Rams and timely misses down the stretch by Willard helped the Rams secure their 60-49 victory over Willard on Friday at Upper Sandusky High School.

CAREY — To continue playing the sport he has loved since he was 6 years old, Carey High School senior Trey Bame on Friday signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Findlay.
