The annual St. Peter Festival was kicked off with the St. Peter School Festival Running of the Colts, which included a 1-mile Family Fun Run (left) and 5K races Friday at Stepping Stones Park in Upper Sandusky. This year, the event included bubbles, glow sticks and a best dressed award.

BUCYRUS — After 32 years in education, Jeanne Thompson, the elementary guidance counselor at Wynford is setting off on a new adventure. She graduated from the Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1987, and started out teaching at Colonel Crawford, where she graduated high school just a few years earlier. Her schedule allowed her to have a wide range of experiences throughout the day with seventh grade art classes in the morning and regular kindergarten classes in the afternoon.

Brett Montgomery, of Harpster, putts Thursday in the Ohio Amateur qualifier at Mohawk Country Club. Montgomery shot an 88 on the soggy course. Britton Hensel, of Kenton, a Tiffin University golfer, won with a 3-under-par 69.
