MARSEILLES — The Wyandot County Historical Society will hold a 50th anniversary memorial service near the site of Lake Central Airlines’ fatal crash that happened near Marseilles on March 5, 1967. The service will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday along CH 94, south of OH 67 West.

The program will remember the three crew members and 35 passengers who lost their lives aboard Lake Central Airlines Flight 527. The Allison Prop-Jet Convair 340 N73130 departed Columbus headed for Toledo and crashed 2 miles southeast of Marseilles at approximately 8:07 p.m.

The ceremony will include a brief description of the accident, followed by a reading of the crash victims’ names. A son of Roger Skillman, the co-pilot, will be among the guests.

When the Wyandot County Museum opens in May, it will include an updated display about the crash. Efforts also are underway to install an Ohio Historical Marker at the site to honor those who died in the crash.
