ADA — Riverdale’s girls captured the district championship, Carey was third, and both schools advanced a slew of athletes to regional competition Saturday in the Division III meet at Ada’s War Memorial Stadium.

The Falcons girls scored 117.5 points to finish well ahead of Coldwater with 95 points. The Cavaliers were just one point ahead of Carey at 94 points.

Allison Woodruff had a good day for the Falcons by winning the district title in the 3200 run in 12:17.13 and finishing as runner-up in the 1600 run in 5:29.85. She also was part of the winning 1600 relay team that also included Kendel Rall, Auhdra Myers and Eden Barnes. They finished in 4:14.25.

Regional qualifier

On the first day of districts Thursday, Woodruff anchored the 3200 relay team in a second-place finish. Emily O’Flaherty, Chloe Powell and Barnes joined her to finish in 10:26.07.

The top four finishers in all events qualify for regionals this week.

Rall was champion in the 300 hurdles in 49.20 and finished as runner-up in the 100 hurdles. Myers was second in the 100 dash in 13.04 after having finished second in the long jump Thursday at 17-0.5.

Barnes moved on in fourth place in the 400 dash in 1:04.74, while Powell was fourth in the 800 run in 2:34.86. Katie Boucher threw 34-1 to take second in the shot put, with Kinsey Shull finishing third at 33-10.5.

Great day

The Falcons had plenty of other placers outside the top four as well. The 400 relay relay team of Rall, Kennedy Phelps, Ella Roach and Myers was fifth in 52.24. Erica Fowler, Phelps, O’Flaherty and Barnes were sixth in the 800 relay in 1:55.94.

Roach finished sixth in the 100 dash in 13.77 and was sixth in the pole vault at 8-6. Powell took seventh in the 1600 run in 5:57.12. Shae Berger topped 4-8 to take sixth in the high jump, with Haidyn Thacker topping 4-6 to tie for seventh.

On the first day, Shull was fifth in the discus at 108-10.

For Carey, Lexi Plott was the district champion in the 100 hurdles in 16.22 and in the high jump at 5-2. She also anchored the winning 400 relay team. Kelsey Bursby, Eliza Weinandy, Macy Wentling and Plott finished in 51.45. The same team was second in the 800 relay in 1:47.82.

Chloe Etzinger qualified for regionals in a pair of events, finishing second in the 3200 run in 12:26.78 and third in the 1600 run in 5:34.02.

Abbie Bushong was fourth in the shot put at 33-9 after she won the discus the first day by throwing 120-0. Macy Hoepf opened the meet Thursday with a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 16-0.

Season extended

Weinandy had the closest miss at regionals, finishing fifth in the 200 dash in 27.84, just one-one hundredth of a second out of fourth place. Yost was fifth in the 100 dash in 13.73, with Wentling seventh in the same event in 13.79. Yost, Etzinger, Weinandy and Wentling were fifth in the 1600 relay in 4:30.13.

Abby Kurtz took seventh place in the 3200 run in 14:00.58, and Hoepf was seventh in the 300 hurdles in 51.75. Tristen Courtad was eighth in the 100 hurdles in 18.18 and eighth in the pole vault at 8-0.

Alexis Mattimoe, Ava Gibson, Ellie Courtad and Charlee Conley were seventh in the 3200 relay in 12:09.76 on Thursday.

Riverdale’s boys finished fifth in the team standings with 54 points. Carey was ninth with 31 points. Columbus Grove ran away with the team title 152-101 over Bluffton.

Sprint relay

Ethan Warren’s runner-up finish in the 1600 run in 4:39.90 led the Falcons on the second day of the meet. Daniel Donaldson was fourth in the 800 run in 2:04.92, and Andrew Woodruff took fourth place in the 3200 run in 10:32.32.

Landen Bailey, Noah Locke, Jack Dusseau and Zach Tackett were third in the 400 relay in 45.74. Daniel Donaldson, Luke Donaldson, Nick Tackett and Zach Tackett were fourth in the 800 relay in 1:34.47.

Daniel Donaldson, Luke Donaldson, Woodruff and Warren advanced to regionals with a runner-up finish in the 3200 relay in 9:8:25.04 on the opening day of districts. Dusseau also took third place in the high jump at 6-0, with Zach Tackett finishing fourth in the pole vault at 13-6.

Daniel Donaldson, Luke Donaldson, Nick Tackett and Warren missed regionals by one place in the 1600 relay, finishing fifth in 3:38.98. Dusseau came in seventh in the 200 dash in 24.47.

Carey’s boys qualifi­ed for regionals in three events. 

Brayden Young was third in the 400 dash in 52.32, while Brock Bushong threw 148-8 to finish third in the discus. Brayden Young, Austin Niederkohr, Brody Baker and Bryce Young were fourth in the 1600 relay in 3:33.49.

Bryce Young took sixth place in the 1600 run in 4:56.18, while Baker was sixth in the 100 hurdles in 16.44. Brayden Young, Niederkohr, Baker and Bryce Puckett came in fifth in the 800 relay in 1:34.47.

On the first day of the meet, the Blue Devils got points from Bushong finishing sixth in the shot put at 45-6 and the 3200 relay team of Mason Bouillon, Caden Cole, Damon Zimmerly and Audric Ritter finishing eighth in 9:31.89.

The first day of the Division III regional meet begins with field events at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Fostoria.
