Calvert sweeps singles play in 4-1 victory

Two days after Upper Sandusky swept its singles matches, the Rams were swept in them in a 4-1 loss to Tiffin Calvert in a girls tennis match Saturday. Upper Sandusky’s only win was at No. 2 doubles. Samantha Fagan and Abby Davidson defeated Emma Prince and Marie Welter, 6-3, 6-4.

Richards leads L-B past Upper

FINDLAY — Savannah Richards scored three goals to lead Liberty-Benton to a 5-0 victory against Upper Sandusky in a girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Saturday. Richards scored on an assist from Maya Rickle less than six minutes into the match, and Alexis Rickenbacher scored unassisted to give the Eagles (8-3-2, 3-1 NCOSA) a 2-0 lead before the break.

Cardinals defeat Raiders in MLF

The Cardinals defeated the Raiders, 32-8, in a Midget League Football game Sunday. Offensively for the Cardinals: Ethan Hill, 13 carries for 120 yards, 3 TDs, two-point conversion; Gavin Frey, 13 carries for 105 yards, 2 TDs, 1 pass completion for 15 yards; Levi Yeater, 5 carries for 15 yards; Micah Shasteen, 1 catch for 15 yards.

Tigers set tone early against Rams

ATTICA — The tone for the entire game was set on the first offensive possessions for Seneca East and Upper Sandusky Friday night in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game. Upper Sandusky went three-and-out, while Seneca East scored in just three plays: a 27-yard dash from Brock Martin followed by a 10-yard run from Martin and an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chase Foos to junior wideout D.J. Ruffing.

Defense carries Royals to 7-0 win

SYCAMORE — In a game that could have been billed as a defensive showdown, Mohawk and Wynford lived up to expectations. The Royals made a halftime adjustment and got in the end zone on a screen pass on their second drive of the third quarter. That was the only score in a 7-0 victory over the Warriors.

Falcons win despite 5 turnovers

RAWSON — Riverdale made plenty of mistakes, but it also made enough plays to overcome them. Aidan Loveridge had 208 yards from scrimmage, and Alec Loveridge contributed to all three touchdowns in a 21-14 Falcons victory over Cory-Rawson. The Falcons (4-2, 2-2 Blanchard Valley Conference) won despite five turnovers.

Carey on to districts for 3rd straight season

ARLINGTON — Carey qualified for districts as a team for the third straight year with a runner-up finish Thursday in Division III sectional boys golf play at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Van Buren ran away with the team title with a 305, while Carey had a sizeable advantage over the third district qualifying team, New Riegel, which shot a 361. Bluffton missed advancing by three strokes.
