ATTICA — A key question that remains for the Wynford boys basketball team — a team with five sophomores and two juniors — is how they can play with the same amount of intensity for all four quarters. Trailing by six points at the start of the fourth quarter of Saturday’s contest against the Seneca East Tigers, the Royals were outscored by the Tigers by nine points in the fourth quarter on the way to a 64-49 road loss to Seneca East on Saturday.

With Mohawk making a run in the fourth quarter, one play helped Upper Sandusky hold on. Mason Vent came up with a loose ball and dished inside for a Jevon Dible layup that helped stop the Warriors’ momentum as the Rams took over second place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with a 66-52 victory Saturday.

CAREY — Carey forced 25 turnovers in an 86-35 rout of Ridgedale in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday night. The Blue Devils (8-2, 4-2 N10) led 19-7 after one quarter, 40-20 at halftime and then put the game away in the third quarter, going up 67-26. Carey outscored Ridgedale, 19-9, in the fourth quarter.

On a night when her Upper Sandusky girls basketball teammates needed her the most, junior Madison McLaughlin stepped up. After Bucyrus junior guard Ni’Georia Floyd buried a 3-pointer from the left corner to tie the game with 1:07 remaining, McLaughlin received a pass from Alexis Fogle on a fast break and hit a left-side layup.

CAREY — Once Carey starting moving the ball well, it was able to get the ball inside to 6-foot-2 All-Ohioan Sydney Kin, she converted time after time, and the Blue Devils erased a fourth-quarter to deficit to defeat North Baltimore, 59-52, in overtime on Friday night.

LIMA — Upper Sandusky’s boys were fourth and the girls were fifth Wednesday in the Lima Holiday Swim Invitational at the Lima YMCA. The Rams boys scored 170 points, placing behind winner Lima Shawnee (465), runner-up Wapakoneta (320) and third place Ottawa-Glandorf (219).

ATTICA — Seneca East nearly topped Mohawk’s final score in the first quarter in a 78-23 blowout victory for the Tigers on Friday. Seneca East (7-2, 4-2 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) jumped out to a 22-6 lead after the first quarter and didn’t let up, scoring 20 points or more in three of the four quarters.

ATTICA — Mohawk’s Zach Hayman has found ways to score without his 3-point shot falling. Unfortunately for Seneca East, he had that working Thursday night, too, in a 27-point effort in the Warriors’ 57-47 victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball play.
