USHS sports passes go on sale next week

The Northern 10 Athletic Conference athletic ticket prices for varsity contests for the upcoming school year are $6 for adults and $5 for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. For junior varsity, freshman and junior high contests, tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for students.

Alumni soccer game to be held

The Upper Sandusky boys soccer alumni game is set for 11 a.m. Saturday. All past team players are invited to play or to come and visit with other players and coaches. The public is welcome.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association adopted recommendations by the National Federation of State High School Associations Concussion Summit Task Force, which will reduce the risk in football for concussions and head impact exposure, according to a release July 13. The OHSAA Board of Directors unanimously approved the changes in a conference call vote, the release said. Concussions can’t be prevented in a contact sport like football, but trying to limit exposure to high school athletes is a start.

GALION — Upper Sandusky’s Owen Knapp took third place in the 12-and-younger division of the final regular Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament Monday at Valley View Golf Club near Galion. Knapp shot a nine-hole 55 that included two pars.
