Safety blotter: May 31, 2019

A caller reported numerous vehicles parked on the 400 block of East Bigelow Street without moving for a long period of time the morning of May 30. Larry R. Blair, Marion, was issued a parking citation and a vehicle was towed from the scene.

An officer assisted Upper Sandusky EMS on the 400 block of North Sandusky Avenue the early morning of May 29. A caller reported a semi truck broke down on the U.S. 23 southbound entrance ramp from East Wyandot Avenue the morning of May 29. The responding officer observed flashers and triangles in use and the vehicle was far enough to the side of the road with a wrecker already coming. The vehicle was removed a short time later.

An officer assisted an Upper Sandusky woman with a vehicle lockout at Bicentennial Park the morning of May 24. An officer assisted with an Upper Sandusky man with a vehicle lockout on the 400 block of North Warpole Street the afternoon of May 24.

Safety blotter: May 24, 2019

A caller reported a small fire on the 300 block of West Spring Street the early morning of May 23. The responding officer located an unattended fire with no protective ring and within 50 feet of a shed. Contact was made with the property owner, who extinguished the fire.

Safety blotter: May 20, 2019

An officer responded to a call about a disabled semi-tractor trailer on West Wyandot Avenue near Eighth Street the morning of May 17. The driver of the semi advised he had run out of fuel. A caller advised traffic was backed up on the Ohio 199 exit ramp at U.S. 23 the evening of May 17. A vehicle had run out of fuel and was towed to a nearby gas station.

A caller reported a suspicious person walking outside their apartment on the 300 block of Highland Parkway the early morning of May 15. The responding officer was unable to locate the individual. A caller reported a reckless driver stopped at Love’s Travel Mart the early morning of May 15. The responding officer made contact with the driver, who said they were driving from Chicago to New York and advised they needed some rest.

An Upper Sandusky man reported an email scam to the police station the morning of May 13. Authorities were contacted and a report was filed. An Upper Sandusky woman reported a scam involving puppies for sale on Facebook the afternoon of May 13. Contact was made with the Cleveland Police Department, which said it had dealt with a similar scam earlier this month.

Safety blotter: May 13, 2019

An officer drove an Upper Sandusky man home from the Wyandot Memorial Hospital emergency room the early morning of May 10. A caller reported a vehicle parked in the Walmart parking lot for two days the afternoon of May 10. The responding officer placed a note on the vehicle stating the vehicle cannot remain there after hours. The owner later called and advised the vehicle had battery issues.
