Upper Sandusky mixed up its lineup Tuesday but still came away with a 4-1 victory against Bucyrus. With the Redmen forfeiting at both No. 2 and 3 singles, the Rams (9-2) needed to take only one match to come away a winner, and they got that quickly with a 6-0, 6-0 No. 1 doubles victory by Noah Frey and Alex Brodman against Alex Moore and Clay Schiefer.

CAREY — With a lawyer and a lawmaker sworn in Monday night, Carey is ready to get back to governing. Jessica Monday was appointed as village solicitor prior to a regular council meeting.

The Wyandot County Board of Commissioners recently received a third estimate for possible restorations to three stained glass windows at the Wyandot County Courthouse Vidonish Stained Glass Studios of Lexington submitted a $126,000 estimate, the highest estimate of the three.

Firefighters from Marseilles and Pitt Township responded to a mower that caught fire Monday afternoon in the 10,000 block of CH 77 near TH 108. The resident was riding the mower when she noticed flames between the blade deck and the engine.

BUCYRUS — In a game that featured a fair share of offense, it was a defensive play that saved the day for Mohawk in a 7-6 win. Down 7-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Wynford got back-to-back one-out singles from Caleb Stone and Wyatt Smith, and both runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch.

Once Upper Sandusky’s bats finally came to life, they did so in a big way. The Rams (10-4, 6-1 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) scored seven times in the fifth inning and four times in the sixth to beat Seneca East, 11-2, on Monday.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale’s boys and girls track and field teams won easily in a home tri-meet Monday. The Falcons girls scored 99 points, with Liberty-Benton edging Arcadia, 34-31, for second. The Falcons boys had 100 points, with the Eagles again edging the Redskins, 35-28, for second.

More than 250 people celebrated Easter at Harrison Smith Park on Saturday morning. Children ages 2-12 hunted and pecked through the lawn for 15,000 colorful plastic eggs filled with candy in this second year for what has become an annual event put on by the Apostolic Gospel Church.

The 1965-66 and 1966-67 Carey boys basketball teams that combined to go 43-3 were inducted into the Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
