SYCAMORE — It’s a combination that has worked well for the Mohawk volleyball team this season — junior Alexa Konkle as the setter and senior Madi Chester as the outside hitter — and Thursday was no exception. Konkle recorded 33 assists, five digs, two kills, two blocks and two aces, and Chester, the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s leader in kills, led the Warriors with 15 kills as the Warriors won a three-set match, 25-12, 25-14, 25-19, over Carey on Thursday at Mohawk.

Alivia Oney had a hat trick as Upper Sandusky snapped a three-match losing streak with a 5-0 shutout victory against Tiffin Columbian on Thursday. Oney also assisted on the match’s opening goal, the first in the career of Riley Messersmith, which came six minutes into the match.

Some unique artwork now decorates the Merchants Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. Local artist Dick Eyestone was commissioned to design an 8-foot-by-8-foot barn quilt for the Wyandot County Fair this year.

New owners

The new owners of Route 30 Harley-Davidson in Upper Sandusky are hoping to bring a family-friendly environment to the motorcycle dealership. Mandie and Joe Bayliff, of Dunkirk, closed on the dealership formerly known as Thiel’s Wheels Harley-Davidson on Aug. 1 and they held a big three-day Backyard BBQ event this past weekend to introduce themselves to the community.
