FOREST — The grand marshal of this year’s Tree Town Festival in Forest is a familiar face to most of the town’s residents. Sharon Haymond worked at the Community First Bank in Forest for the past 45 years and has served as the Tree Town Festival’s treasurer for 25 years. Haymond retired from her festival duties four years ago and will be retiring from her job at the bank later this year.

High school boys basketball summer success

The Upper Sandusky boys basketball high school team completed its summer season in June, going 51-8 overall. The team was 6-1 at Findlay team camp from June 10-11, 15-1 and tournament champion in the Elmwood Shootout on June 13, 4-0 in the Wooster College Shootout on June 15 and 26-6 at Eastern Ohio Basketball Camp from June 16-18.

COLUMBUS — As soon as 2005 Upper Sandusky High School graduate Jake Diebler learned an assistant men’s basketball coaching position at Ohio State University was going to come open, he expressed interest. After Mike Schrage left to become the head men’s basketball coach at Elon University, Diebler reached out to Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann, whom he had become acquainted with over the last two years.
