Ratliff’s 1-hitter completes sweep

CAREY — Carey’s baseball team dominated in every facet, thumping Buckeye Central 13-1 in five innings in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play Wednesday at Carey.

A day after doing 4-for-4 at the plate at Buckeye Central, Kobe Ratliff (4-4) took the mound and gave up just an unearned run on one hit and two walks with six strikeouts.

Carey (10-9, 5-7 N10) scored three, three, two and five runs in their innings at the plate.

Nate Crawford was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle and drove in four runs. Conner Norden tripled, singled and also had four RBIs. Louis Watkins doubled and drove in two runs.

“Flawless D, great running, solid pitching and ruthless hitting is a formula for success,” Carey coach Eric Mullholand said. “We had it all today. I think we are hitting our stride at a good time. I hope it continues.”

Jeremiah Fishpaw had the only hit for the Bucks (6-11, 3-8 N10).

Austin Estridge (2-4) took the loss, walking three without a strikeout.

The Blue Devils host Bucyrus at 5 p.m. Friday.
