SYCAMORE — Andon Clouse hit a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning to send Mohawk to an 8-7 victory against Lakota in its baseball season opener Monday at Mohawk. Brant Kirian was hit by a pitch to lead off the eighth and stole second. With one out, Clouse hit a line drive double to score Kirian for the winning run. That came after the Warriors (1-0) rallied for the lead with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, only to let the Raiders (0-1) tie it with four runs in the top of the seventh. Kaden Bish delivered a two-out bases-loaded double to score three in the big sixth inning. Andon Clouse had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Levi Tiell singled twice and scored twice. Tiell pitched six strong innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits, five walks and two hit batters with 10 strikeouts, but the win went to Zikki Magallanes, who hit a batter in a scoreless top of the eighth with two strikeouts ahead of the winning run. Jacob Hines singled twice and drove in two runs for Lakota. Grant Scherger was the losing pitcher with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. Mohawk hosts Wynford at 5 p.m. today.
