Cardinals shut out Raiders to open MFL play

The Cardinals defeated the Raiders, 46-0, in a Midget League Football game Sunday. Offensively for the Cardinals: Gavin Frey, 12 carries for 108 yards, 2 TDs, 2 two-point conversions, 2-4 passing for 80 yards, 2 TDs; Ethan Hill, 7 carries for 97 yards, 2 TDs, 2 two-point conversions, 2 catches for 80 yards, 2 TDs; Justin Heilman, 1 carry for 3 yards, 2-point conversion.

Mohawk 7th grade downs Wynford, 22-0

SYCAMORE — Mohawk’s seventh-grade football team shut out Wynford, 22-0, on Tuesday. Zaiden Fry had a pair of touchdowns for the Warriors, while Bryce Hannam threw a touchdown pass to Owen Chevalier. Fry and Jace Margraf had two-point conversions.

Riverdale Invite slated Thursday

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Cross Country Invitational is 4 p.m. Thursday at Riverdale. The schedule of races includes elementary girls at 4 p.m., elementary boys at 4:20 p.m., junior high girls at 5 p.m., junior high boys at 5:25 p.m., high school girls at 5:45 p.m., and high school boys at 6:15 p.m.

Hensel’s penalty kick goal gives Rams 2-2 draw with Hornets

Both teams scored a penalty kick goal in the final 10 minutes, and Upper Sandusky and Cory-Rawson drew, 2-2, in a girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Monday. Hayley Waltz put the Hornets (2-4-1, 0-2-1 NCOSA) ahead, 2-1, with a penalty kick goal with 8:41 remaining, but Megan Hensel answered with one of her own less than a minute later.

Galion tops Upper Sandusky in 4

GALION — Upper Sandusky won the third set, but Galion put away the match soundly in the fourth set, 25-16, 25-12, 17-25, 25-9, in a non-conference volleyball match Monday. Anna Johnson led the Rams (3-6) at the net with six kills on 16-of-18 hitting.

Carey coasts past Ridgedale

CAREY — Carey rolled to a 25-12, 25-10, 25-11 victory against Ridgedale in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Monday. Sydney Kin led the Blue Devils (8-1, 5-1 N10) on offense with 14 kills on 25-of-26 hitting, and McKenzie Row had 11 kills on 19-of-21 hitting.

BC tops Mohawk, Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — Liz Heydinger shot a 51 to lead Buckeye Central past Mohawk, 215-239, in a girls golf tri-match Monday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. Bucyrus also participated but did not have enough players to score as a team.

Drum’s 41 leads Warriors

GALION — Logan Drum shot a 41 to earn medalist honors and lead Mohawk to a 182-232 victory against Colonel Crawford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys golf match Monday at Valley View Golf Course.
