Ward, Chester combine for 33 kills

SYCAMORE — Kaylee Ward and Madi Chester carried the load, and Tess Weinandy helped fill Destini Oler’s void Saturday as Mohawk defeated Arcadia, 17-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23, in a non-conference volleyball home match. One of the Warriors’ leading hitters, Oler missed the match to participate in cross country.

Swinehart, Thiel score in Rams loss

CALEDONIA — Jacob Kellogg’s back-to-back goals in the second half helped River Valley defeat Upper Sandusky, 4-2, in a non-conference boys soccer match Saturday. The Vikings’ lead was cut to 2-1 on a Ross Swinehart goal with 31:51 left in the match, but Kellogg scored with 21:32 remaining and again with just 9:24 to go.

Morrow helps Vikings earn sweep of Royals

CALEDONIA — River Valley swept Wynford, 25-22, 25-20, 25-19, in a non-conference volleyball match Saturday. Josie Morrow led the Vikings (5-7) with 13 kills, while Leticia Harbolt had seven, Izzy Ruth finished with six, Olivia Kyrk had five, and Bailey Ruth finished with four.

Wentling leads Blue Devils’ win

BUCYRUS — Brayden Wentling and Carey made some big plays, and Carey overcame a somewhat sluggish start to run away with a 48-13 victory against Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference football game Friday night. The Blue Devils outscored the Redmen 27-0 over a span of just more than six minutes starting late in the second to pull away.

Stoll powers Chargers

Whether Edison needed a few yards or a lot, running back Sam Stoll was the answer. The Chargers’ 6-1, 192-pound running back showed both power and speed as he ran for 173 yards and four touchdowns in less than one half of work in Edison’s 42-0 victory against Upper Sandusky on Friday night.

Royals take shootout over Eagles

BUCYRUS — One of the most exciting see-saw games of the season saw Wynford come out on top 44-36 against Colonel Crawford Friday night in a thrilling Northern 10 Athletic Conference showdown. In a game that featured two ties and six lead changes, Wynford finally turned the corner with three fourth-quarter touchdowns to retain the Iron Plow trophy.

Riverdale rolls in shutout victory

VANLUE — The Riverdale offense scored all six times it had the ball Friday night, defeating Vanlue, 41-0, in a Blanchard Valley Conference football game. Aidan Loveridge carried the ball for a 73-yard touchdown on the first offensive play for the Falcons to set the tone.
