CAREY — Hayden Stone scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Carey to a 76-67 victory against Bucyrus on Friday night in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball play.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — North Baltimore used a balanced scoring effort to hold off Riverdale, 62-54, in a Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk girls basketball coach Amy Kozel would love to have that second quarter back. With the game tied with eight seconds remaining in the first quarter, Upper Sandusky guard Megan Hensel set a screen for guard Abigail Fogle, who buried a deep 3-pointer near the Mohawk bench.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls basketball team bucked a season-long trend of sluggish first quarters as they scored 23 points in the opening quarter and raced out to a 27-point halftime lead on the way to a 66-29 victory over Cory-Rawson on Thursday.

CAREY — The Carey girls basketball team won their sixth consecutive game with a 68-28 victory over Ridgedale in Northern 10 Athletic Conference action Thursday at Carey High School. The Blue Devils (10-1, 5-1 N10) scored 22 points in the first quarter, 22 in the second quarter and led 42-15 at the half.

BUCYRUS — Freshman Jessica Bowerman scored 17 points to lead Seneca East to a 63-37 victory against Wynford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Thursday night.

The OHSAA has deemed Jan. 19 as Armed Services Appreciation Night for basketball games. In honor of this, Upper Sandusky Middle School will allow any former or active service member into its Jan. 18 girls basketball games against Mohawk for free.

The Upper Sandusky High School and Upper Sandusky Middle School summer athletic no-contact period will be observed from June 30 through July 8. No practices, games, shoot-outs, 7-on-7s, competitions, individual instruction, open gym or fields, conditioning or weight training will be held during this time.

MORRAL — Ridgedale has announced it will not play junior varsity boys basketball at all this season. Junior varsity girls basketball games will be played on a selective basis.
