Killdeer sets trap drawing

FINDLAY — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources announced a one-time drawing for trapping in the wildlife refuge on the Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Killdeer Plains check station, located at 19100 CH 115, Harpster, 1.5 miles south of Ohio 294 in Wyandot County.

Freshman leads LCC past Wynford, 28-16

LIMA — Only a freshman, Shaun Thomas had speed for which Wynford had no answer Saturday night. The 5-9, 170-pound Lima Central Catholic running back ran for 232 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Thunderbirds to a 28-16 non-conference victory against the Royals on a rainy, windy Saturday night game at Spartan Stadium.

Mohawk sweeps Upper

SYCAMORE — Saturday morning volleyball has a reputation for sometimes being sluggish, but not for Mohawk’s Destini Oler. By the time she took the court against Upper Sandusky, she already had run a 5K and was ready to go.

Miller scores 2 goals, assists on another in Riverdale win

MOUNT BLANCHARD — In a matchup of inexperienced teams, Riverdale proved more able to control the flow of play. The Falcons took a 2-0 lead against the wind off a pair of handballs in the first half, and held possession in their opponent’s half for much of the second in a 3-1 victory over Upper Sandusky on Saturday.

Norris scores 2 goals

Taylor Norris scored a pair of goals, and Upper Sandusky took a 4-0 victory against Sandusky in a non-conference girls soccer match Saturday. Norris scored the match’s only first-half goal on an assist from Megan Hensel with 13:13 remaining.

Riverdale girls soccer earns No. 1 spot

The Riverdale girls soccer team earned the No. 1 seed during soccer sectional draws held Sunday. The Falcons (11-2-2) have a bye into the sectional finals and will host the winner of No. 8 Allen East (7-6-1) against No. 6 Cory-Rawson (6-7-1) at 7 p.m. Oct. 18.
