BELLEFONTAINE — Thane Gallegos reached the semifinals to lead Riverdale on the first day of wrestling Friday at the Benjamin Logan Invitational wrestling tournament. Gallegos won by major decision and then by pin in the 145-pound weight class.

It may not have been a 43-point victory this time, but the outcome wasn’t ever in doubt. The Upper Sandusky boys basketball team buried 13 3-pointers and forced 14 turnovers on the way to an 85-64 victory over Bellevue Thursday at Upper Sandusky.

McCOMB — The Riverdale girls basketball team won for the third time in its last four games with a 51-36 victory over McComb on Thursday at McComb High School.

The Upper Sandusky seventh grade girls basketball team got 14 points from Kaidance Iles and took a 30-16 victory against Colonel Crawford on Thursday.

SYCAMORE — With little trouble, Upper Sandusky is on to the Division III Region 18 semifinals of the OHSAA team dual wrestling tournament. Mohawk just missed joining the Rams.

Another season, another perfect game. Upper Sandusky’s Allen McLaughlin threw his first perfect game in a city tournament in December 2015 and his second perfect game in December 2016 in the classic league at Wyandot Lanes in Upper Sandusky.

NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky could not overcome a slow start in a 50-43 loss to Buckeye Central on Tuesday night that likely ended the Rams’ hopes of repeating as Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball champions.

CAREY — Carey limited Wynford to a pair of 2-point field goals the entire game in a 57-17 victory Tuesday night in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball play. The Royals (3-12, 2-9 N10) were just 2 of 17 on 2-pointers and 5 of 29 from the field overall with 24 turnovers.

SYCAMORE — Despite having one of their better performances of the season, the Mohawk girls basketball team dropped their third consecutive game in a 54-38 loss to Bucyrus on Tuesday at Mohawk High School. The Warriors (3-12, 2-9 N10) were led by freshman guard Aubrie Harper, who scored 10 points.

The Carey freshman boys basketball team edged Wynford, 39-37, on Tuesday. Ian Yeater led the Blue Devils with 15 points, followed by Jacob Reinhart with 10 points.
