CAREY — Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville won the first two games, 9-4 and 7-1, before dropping a 3-2 decision to Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God in Wyandot County Church Dartball action Thursday.

DOLA — Four of Riverdale’s eight losses on the season have been by less than 10 points. So in the Falcons’ boys basketball contest against Hardin Northern on Wednesday, a 16-point halftime lead gave them the opportunity to finally put their foot down and get their first win.

CAREY — With his team trailing Carey by 11 points in the second quarter, Buckeye Central girls basketball coach Greg Moore knew exactly what adjustments to make. Moore switched the Bucks’ defense from a 1-3-1 zone to a man to man with a press and used pick and rolls and screens on offense to enable leading scorers Jenna Karl and Courtney Pifher to get more open looks.

VANDALIA — Ronan Gullifer, Noah Clary, Mitchell DeWitt and Connor Johnston advanced to the quarterfinals to lead Upper Sandusky to third place in the Division II and III results after one day Wednesday at the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Holiday Tournament at Vandalia Butler.

Upper Sandusky defeated Carey, 72-21, in a junior high wrestling match last week. Caleb Clary, Gage Frey, Karson Alban and Carson Vanhorn had pins for the Rams.

FINDLAY — The third annual Northwest Ohio District Indoor Track and Field Invitational will be held Jan. 19 at the Malcom Athletic Center inside the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex at the University of Findlay. There will be awards for champion and runner-up teams.

The Upper Sandusky Athletic Boosters has announced the creation of the Jim Morrison Athletic Pass. All student-athletes who participated in a spring or fall sport, or are currently participating in a winter sport will receive the pass that will be good for the remainder of the school year.

The Upper Sandusky boys basketball game at Ridgedale on Jan. 27 will be varsity only and will start at 6 p.m.

ATTICA — It’s something the Upper Sandusky boys basketball team does nearly every game, and during the Rams’ 74-50 victory over Seneca East on Saturday, it swung momentum in their favor and put them ahead for good. With the Rams trailing by five points with seven minutes remaining in the second quarter, Mason Vent buried a 3-pointer from the right wing.

BUCYRUS — It looked like another slow start may doom Riverdale’s girls basketball team. Then it didn’t and then it did again, but it in the end, the Falcons topped Bucyrus, 54-49, in a nonconference game of huge momentum shifts.
