RAWSON — A rough third quarter proved costly for Riverdale in a tightly contested Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball match up Friday night against Cory-Rawson. The Falcons came out halftime with the score knotted up, but were outscored by nine in the decisive third quarter, eventually losing to Cory-Rawson, 63-57.

TIFFIN — The first organizational meeting for all coaches of the Sen-San-Wyan softball league is 7 p.m. March 7 in the Upper Room at the St. Joseph Activity Center on Melmore Street in Tiffin. This instructional league is open to all girls in the surrounding areas and no girl will be denied participation on her home team.

Carey High School senior Destiny DeFeo signed her national letter of intent to play basketball at Heidelberg University. “I got the chance to meet the team and they were really nice and I like them,” DeFeo said.

The Upper Sandusky seventh grade boys basketball team defeated Seneca East, 53-44, in the championship game of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference tournament Thursday at Wynford Elementary.

ARCADIA — Facing one of the Blanchard Valley Conference’s top teams, the Riverdale girls basketball team outscored the Redskins in the second and third quarter, but was outscored in the first and fourth quarters on the way to a 66-61 loss to Arcadia on Thursday at Arcadia High School.

BUCYRUS — One of the areas that Bucyrus girls basketball coach Taylor Whitaker has had confidence in the Redmen this season is their free throw shooting, even though they haven’t had many opportunities to get to the free throw line in high pressure situations.

CAREY — The second that Carey High School senior Cody Luzader stepped on the University of Findlay campus and spoke to the football coaches, he knew it was the right place to continue his academic and athletic career. On Wednesday at Carey High School, Luzader signed his national letter of intent to play football at the University of Findlay next fall.
