BUCYRUS — For the second straight year, the Wynford-Ridgedale girls basketball contest at Wynford High School was decided in overtime. Unlike last season, Ridgedale came out on top this time with a 45-43 final score.

NORTH ROBINSON — Down by one point against Colonel Crawford with less than five seconds left, senior guard Sandra Pennington sank a half court shot Friday to give the Mohawk girls basketball team its second victory of the season.

BASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon’s boys remained undefeated after surviving a back-and-forth battle against visiting Riverdale Friday night. With the score tied at 31 heading into the fourth quarter, the Chieftains (3-0, 1-0 Blanchard Valley Conference) outscored Riverdale 17-12 down the stretch to win 49-44.

Upper Sandusky has not tasted defeat in the regular season in a long time. On Thursday, the Rams scored the first 12 points of the game to put any doubt of a loss against Galion out of question.

FINDLAY — Anyone who faces the Liberty-Benton girls basketball team is facing a team that ranks in the top three of the Blanchard Valley Conference in team 2-point shooting percentage and 3-point shooting percentage as well as team rebounds, steals and assists.

ASHLAND — The Upper Sandusky girls swimming teams defeated Ashland, 94-68, while the boys lost, 102-66, on Thursday at Ashland University. “Ashland’s boys team has a good group of state level competitors and it was good to give our swimmers experience swimming against that level of competition,” Upper Sandusky coach Justin Richardson said in an email.

MORRAL — Ridgedale will not play junior varsity girls basketball games today at Wynford or Tuesday at home against Upper Sandusky. Tonight’s game will start at 7 p.m., while the game Tuesday will start at 6 p.m.

BUCYRUS — The Upper Sandusky eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Bucyrus, 39-31, on Thursday. Trenton Beamer led the Rams (3-1) with 12 points, while Zach Sheaffer scored 9 points.

Upper Sandusky Middle School is hosting a food drive twice next week. Those who bring in five nonperishable food items for a local food pantry will be admitted free to the Rams’ boys home basketball game against Mohawk on Dec. 11 and to the girls home basketball games against Wynford on Dec. 14.

Sycamore United Church of Christ swept Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church A, 7-2, 2-1 and 7-5, to open Wyandot County Church Dartball play Thursday.
