Carey dominates early in 57-31 win

Easy layup featured

CAREY — Playing their second game in three days, the Carey girls basketball team raced out to a 22-point lead at the half on the way to a 57-31 victory over Colonel Crawford on Thursday at Carey High School. The Blue Devils (17-2, 11-2 N10) led 21-2 at the end of the first quarter, 30-8 at the half and 41-20 at the end of third quarter.

Wright leads Riverdale

PANDORA — The Riverdale girls basketball team won for the seventh time in their last 10 games with a 43-27 victory over Pandora-Gilboa on Thursday at Pandora-Gilboa High School. The Falcons (11-8 6-3 Blanchard Valley Conference) were led by Lexie Wright, who had a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Royals go cold in loss to Whippets

BUCYRUS — Wynford made just 10 of 48 shots while dropping a 63-27 decision against Shelby on Thursday night in a non-conference boys basketball game. The Royals (7-8) got 15 points from Josh Crall, but no one else scored more than 5.

St. Paul 2 sweeps again

St. Paul Lutheran Church 2 swept for the second straight week, 14-4, 8-3 and 12-4, against Wharton First Church of God, to increase its lead Thursday in the Wyandot County Church Dartball standings.

CC tops Upper

BUCYRUS — Kayla Risner’s 29 points were enough to carry Colonel Crawford past Upper Sandusky’s balanced scoring in a 48-44 Eagles victory Thursday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference eighth grade girls basketball tournament game Thursday at Bucyrus.

Upper hiring tennis coach

Upper Sandusky High School is searching for a head girls tennis coach for the 2018-19 school year. BC wins after Karl’s 3 forces OT

NEW WASHINGTON — Everything changed in only a few seconds. Jenna Karl’s long 3-pointer at the end of the fourth quarter forced overtime, and a Courtney Pifher three-point play off the tip ball to begin overtime turned the tide, and Buckeye Central took over first place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with a 55-51 victory against Carey on Tuesday night.
