MORRAL — The Wynford boys basketball team held Ridgedale to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters, building a near insurmountable lead before taking its foot off the gas late in a 58-45 victory on Friday. Paced by 23 points from sophomore guard Josh Crall, Wynford (3-0, 2-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) went into the fourth quarter nearly doubling Ridgedale with a 39-20 lead.

NORTH ROBINSON — In an early season Northern 10 Athletic Conference matchup, the Colonel Crawford Eagles edged the Mohawk Warriors 73-67 on Friday at Colonel Crawford High School. The Warriors connected on 20 of 33 shots from the field and 7 of 13 from 3-point range in the loss.

BELLEVUE — The Upper Sandusky wrestling team split in a tri-match Friday night at Bellevue, beating Willard, 66-5, but losing to the host Redmen, 38-25. Brayzin McDaniel (126 pounds), Brandon Derr (170), Noah Clary (182), Mitchell DeWitt (195), Connor Johnston (220 and 285) and Mark Collins (220 and 285) all went 2-0 for the Rams and earned all of the Rams’ six wins against the Redmen.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk defeated Monroeville, 39-12, and lost to Sandusky St. Mary’s, 38-27, in a home tri-match Friday afternoon. The event was held at 4 p.m. to allow students the chance to stay after school to watch.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — It’s a question the Riverdale girls basketball team’s coaching staff is trying to come up with an answer to: How to avoid the first-quarter stumble.

OLD FORT — Old Fort used a strong third quarter to earn its first win of the season, 42-30 against Mohawk in a non-conference girls basketball game Thursday night. Leading 23-16, the Stockaders (1-5) held a 11-2 advantage in the third to move ahead by 16 points.

McCUTCHENVILLE — Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville swept Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 4-3, 9-1 and 5-2, to move into a tie for first place Thursday in the Wyandot County Church Dartball League.

Wynford defeated Upper Sandusky, 41-23, in an eighth grade girls basketball game Thursday. Madison Byrum led the Rams with 8 points, while Grace Vent scored 7 points, Harley Brown had 6 points, and Ruth Baldwin finished with 2 points.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — As a state qualifier last season, Carey sophomore wrestler Tanner May has lofty expectations for this season. “I want to try to make state finals this year, that’s my goal,” May said.

FINDLAY — The Upper Sandusky Middle School wrestling team took second at the Findlay Donnell Duals on Saturday. The Rams beat Archbold, 62-25; Findlay Glenwood, 75-12; and Kenton, 76-10; but lost to host Donnell, 43-41.
