Mohawk wins over Ridgemont

RIDGEWAY — Mohawk jumped on Ridgemont early in a 63-44 non-conference boys basketball victory Saturday night. The Warriors led 19-8 after one quarter and 31-14 at halftime and then outscored the Golden Gophers by one point in each of the third and fourth quarters.

Upper sets summer no-contact dates

The Upper Sandusky High School and Upper Sandusky Middle School summer athletic no-contact period will be observed from June 30 through July 8. No practices, games, shoot-outs, 7-on-7s, competitions, individual instruction, open gym or fields, conditioning or weight training will be held during this time. All USHS and USMS athletic facilities, including the weight room and gyms, will be closed.

BUCYRUS — Midway through the second quarter, it looked as if the Wynford boys basketball team may have found an answer for what has been their Achilles’ heel all season: Rebounding. The Royals were getting second-chance opportunities on offense, converting them into points and grabbing rebounds off of missed shots by Upper Sandusky.

SYCAMORE — After missing last year with an injury, Sandra Pennington is doing everything she can to make the most of her senior season. Pennington scored 15 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, to lead Mohawk to a 31-28 victory against Ridgedale in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game, snapping an eight-game losing streak.

CAREY — The Carey girls basketball team won their sixth consecutive game with a 68-28 victory over Ridgedale in Northern 10 Athletic Conference action Thursday at Carey High School. The Blue Devils (10-1, 5-1 N10) scored 22 points in the first quarter, 22 in the second quarter and led 42-15 at the half.
