MARION — Wynford was limited to just one hit in losing a 9-0 nonconference baseball decision Thursday at Pleasant. Nate Imbody managed the only hit for the Royals (1-2).

The Upper Sandusky High School Student Council is hosting the fifth annual Tammy Clifford Memorial 5K at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Upper Sandusky Reservoir. Check-in and registration starts at 9 a.m.

Upper Sandusky High School and SportsCare at Wyandot Memorial Hospital are partnering to offer athletic physicals for high school and middle school athletes (entering seventh through 12th grades) on May 30. WMH staff and local optometrists will provide physical exams for a $15 donation to the USHS Athletic Department.

Many postponed athletic events this season have been rescheduled. Mohawk is hosting Buckeye Central, while Carey is home against Colonel Crawford in both baseball and softball at 5 p.m. Thursday.

CAREY — Carey coach Joey Roark spent hours getting the field ready, all the while his seniors got themselves prepared. The Blue Devils got key plays from their seniors and opened Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play with a 4-0 victory against rival Upper Sandusky on Monday.

CAREY — Heading into the 2018 season, there was one matchup Carey senior pitcher Blayc Hacker anxiously looked forward to. It was the day when her Carey softball team would face the Upper Sandusky Rams, the team she played for as a freshman, sophomore and junior before electing to transfer to Carey for her senior year.

NORTH ROBINSON — Rico Lopez threw a six-hit shutout to lead Mohawk to a 2-0 victory against Colonel Crawford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Monday. Lopez (1-1) walked three and struck out two.

MORRAL — Caleb Stone had two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs to lead Wynford to a 9-4 victory against Ridgedale to open Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play Monday. Nate Imbody also had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Royals (1-1, 1-0 N10).

RAWSON — Riverdale improved to 2-0 in the Blanchard Valley Conference with an 8-3 victory at Cory-Rawson on Monday. The Falcons (3-2, 2-0 BVC) took control with two runs in the second inning, one in the third and three in the sixth before the Hornets got on the board with two in the bottom of the sixth.

Upper Sandusky’s girls won easily, while the boys were second in a home track and field tri-meet Monday. The Rams girls topped Carey, 91.5-48.5, with Colonel Crawford third with 34 points.
