Upper rolls to sweep of Riverdale

Upper Sandusky got off to quick starts in both games of a home softball doubleheader sweep against Riverdale, 16-1 and 23-5, on Saturday. The Rams (2-1) jumped out to a 10-0 lead after two innings in the opener and then got six more runs in the third inning.

Mohawk baseball splits with St. Paul

NORWALK — Marshall Stull picked up the pitching win and homered as Mohawk took an 11-7 victory after losing a 13-8 decision in the opener of a nonconference baseball doubleheader Saturday. The Warriors (2-2) jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the second game by scoring four times in the first inning, once in the second and three times in the third.

SYCAMORE — Madi Chester continued her hot start to the season but none her teammates found any success against Madelyn Thomas, who threw a three-hit shutout in Galion’s 3-0 nonconference softball victory against Mohawk on Saturday.

Upper’s Clary places 4th at nationals

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.. — The 2017-18 OHSAA wrestling season may be over, but Upper Sandusky High School senior Noah Clary hasn’t stopped adding to the list of accomplishments in his career. Clary placed fourth at the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Nationals — which the top eight wrestlers from all 14 weight classes in each state have the chance to compete in — from March 23-25 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and beat Mohawk, 2-1, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball opener Wednesday. Down 1-0, Buckeye Central (2-2, 1-0 N10) got a leadoff single from Joe Cole to lead off the seventh.

NEW WASHINGTON — Mohawk scored in all but one inning on its way to a 12-8 victory against Buckeye Central to open Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball play Wednesday. After both teams scored once in the first inning, the Warriors (2-0, 1-0 N10) built a 9-1 lead with two runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and two in the top of the fifth.

The Upper Sandusky Middle School wrestling team recently held an awards banquet at The Village Restaurant. Northern 10 Athletic Conference champions honored were Cameron Vince, 122 pounds; Lane Montgomery, 128; Karson Alban, 134; Aiden Gallant, 142; Braxton Johnson, 150; and Carson Vanhorn, 172.
