NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore scored eight times in the first inning and held a five-run lead after three innings, but it was not enough against a Carey offense that pounded out 25 hits in a 21-12 victory Thursday in a nonconference softball game.

BUCYRUS — Although they scored two runs in the fifth, a run in the first inning was all the Wynford baseball team needed as they defeated the Bucyrus Redmen 3-0 on Thursday at Wynford High School. The Royals (5-7, 4-3 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) are now in third place in the N10.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale rallied with two runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth inning to beat Colonel Crawford, 7-5, in a nonconference baseball game Thursday. Colonel Crawford (4-12) took a 5-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning after it tied the game at 2 the inning before.

BUCYRUS — Once again, Bucyrus freshman Caleigh Rister had a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out 14 as the Bucyrus softball team defeated Wynford 7-0 on Thursday at Wynford High School. Bucyrus broke a scoreless tie by scoring one run in the fourth inning and added four more in the fifth and two in the seventh inning.

MORRAL — The Carey baseball team not only remained undefeated on the season with a 2-1 victory over Ridgedale on Wednesday at Ridgedale High School, but made history as well. The Blue Devils (14-0, 11-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) tied the school record for most victories in a single season.

MORRAL — Blayc Hacker and Bridget Mullholand both hit home runs as Carey topped Ridgedale, 3-0, on Wednesday to remain undefeated in Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball play. Hacker (7-0) also pitched another shutout, dropping her ERA to 0.95.

VAN BUREN — Saige Warren completed a three-run seventh inning with a walk-off RBI single to rally Van Buren past Riverdale, 6-5, in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game Wednesday. After Riverdale (7-6, 5-3 BVC) scored three times in the top of the seventh inning, Kade Steveson’s two-run home run tied the game at 5.

VAN BUREN — The Riverdale softball team scored one run in each of the first two innings, but it wasn’t enough in a 13-2 run-rule loss to Van Buren on Wednesday. The Black Knights (8-5, 5-2 Blanchard Valley Conference) scored 10 runs in the first inning, two in the second, one in the third and had 13 hits.

SYCAMORE — For as long as she can remember, softball has been a part of Mohawk High School senior Hannah Jordan’s life. On Tuesday at Mohawk High School, Jordan, surrounded by coaches, teammates and her parents, ensured she would continue to play the sport she loves post high school as she signed her national letter of intent to play softball at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU).

The DMGA AAU basketball team recently won the Wadsworth Grizzly Games Basketball Tournament and also won the Ashland Tip Off Classic and are currently undefeated for this spring season.
