Warriors win school-record 16th game

SYCAMORE — Mohawk set a program record for wins with a 69-38 blowout of Lakota on Friday night in a nonconference boys basketball game. The Warriors (16-6) previously had won no more than 15 games in a season, including postseason games.

Mohawk puts 6 into sectional semifinals

VAN BUREN — Mohawk has eight wreslters into the semifinals needing only one more win to advance to district competition after one day of Division III sectional action Friday at Van Buren. The Warriors’ David Daniel (106 pounds), Caden Gurney (126), Daniel Price (132), Jesse Leeth (138), Morgan Price (145), Rico Lopez (152), Parker Brown (160) and Nick Theis (220) all are into the semifinals.

Wenger advances in state meet

Getting ready

CANTON — All spring, summer, fall and winter, Upper Sandusky junior Abbey Wenger trained and prepared to not only qualify for the 2018 Swimming and Diving Championships, but for the finals or consolation finals on Friday. Soon after the girls 100 breaststroke was finished Thursday at the 2018 Swimming and Diving Championships, Wenger heard her name announced in 16th place.

Upper’s Dible, Winslow take top honors on District 6 team

Upper Sandusky’s Jevon Dible and Jeff Winslow took the top honors on the Division III All-District 6 boys basketball team as player and coach of the year, respectively. Dible, a senior guard, leads the Rams in scoring at 14.7 points per game, rebounding at 6.5 rebounds per game, assists at 4.0 per game and steals at 2.5 per game.

3 players named to 1st team

Abigail Fogle

Upper Sandusky’s Abigail Fogle, Carey’s Sydney Kin and Riverdale’s Lexie Wright all were first-team All-District 6 selections in a release of honors Thursday. Fogle, a senior guard, was honored in Division II.
