SYCAMORE — Not only did Mohawk senior Hannah Jordan enter Saturday’s contest against the Wynford softball team with the lowest ERA (0.93) in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference, but the second-highest batting average (.550) as well.

ADA — Carey’s girls were fourth and the boys were fifth Saturday in the Ada Invitational track and field meet at War Memorial Stadium. Van Wert won the championship with 115 points.

SHELBY — Upper Sandusky’s boys showed a great future in boys track and field by winning the Shelby Freshman-Sophomore Invitational on Saturday. Despite not entering any field events, the Rams scored 96 points to edge Bellevue, which scored 91 points.

MOUNT GILEAD — Lainey Holman led Wynford in the Mount Gilead by placing in four events Saturday. Holman was second in the 200 dash in 27.3, third in the 100 dash in 13.3, tied for third in the high jump at 4-10 and fifth in the 400 dash in 1:04.5 to help the Royals score 27.5 points and finish 10th.

MORRAL — Upper Sandusky’s boys were second and the girls took third Saturday in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference junior high meet at Ridgedale. Seneca East was the boys champion by a wide margin, scoring 144 points.

ATTICA — Ever since he was little, Carey senior third baseman Grant Frederick and his teammates — many of whom have been playing together since they were 8 years old — had a few goals for their senior season.

After a slow start, Upper Sandusky’s offense came to life in time to take a 5-3 victory against Colonel Crawford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Friday.

ATTICA — The Northern 10 Athletic Conference title will have to wait until next week for the Carey softball team after it suffered a 3-1 setback at Seneca East on Friday. Hailey Niederkohr homered for the second straight game, giving the Blue Devils (15-4, 12-2 N10) a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning, but the Tigers (10-5, 6-5 N10) pulled the upset with three runs in the sixth inning.

NEW WASHINGTON — Wynford scored four runs in the first inning, Buckeye Central rallied to force extra innings, and the Royals came away a 6-4 winner Friday with two runs in the eighth inning of a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game.

NEW WASHINGTON — Wyatt Smith struck out 16 batters to lead Wynford to a 4-1 victory against Buckeye Central in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play Friday in New Washington. All but four of the 20 outs Smith recorded came via strikeout.
