RV edges Upper boys tennis, 3-2

CALEDONIA — River Valley won a pair of close doubles matches and took a 3-2 victory against Upper Sandusky in a boys tennis match Friday. The Vikings’ No. 1 doubles team of Dillon Trafzer and Josh Branstetter won the deciding match in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, against Sam Stuckman and Keegan Hossler.

Vikings pull away to win 15-6

CALEDONIA — Both teams had six-run innings early but River Valley was able to continue its offensive surge in taking a 15-6 victory against Wynford in a nonconference softball game Friday. The Vikings (3-6) went up 6-0 in the second inning but the Royals (3-6) answered in the top of the fourth.

BUCYRUS — With the game tied at 4, Ridgedale used a six-run sixth inning to take control and beat Wynford, 10-6, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Thursday. The Rockets (7-3, 2-3 N10) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and led 4-1 when the Royals (3-6, 3-3 N10) tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Niederkohr leads Blue Devils

FREMONT — Led by Hailey Niederkohr’s four hits, Carey smashed 16 hits in just five innings in a 12-1 nonconference softball victory Thursday at Fremont St. Joseph. The Blue Devils (8-2) scored four times each in the first and second innings, once in the third inning and then three times in the fifth inning.

FREMONT — Once again, the Carey baseball team found a way to win in the later innings. With the game tied at five entering the top of the seventh inning, the Blue Devils scored two runs and Trey Bame got the save to secure a 7-5 nonconference victory over Fremont St. Joseph on Thursday in Fremont.
