Clouse, Klopp lead Mohawk to 3-0 win against Ridgedale

MORRAL — Paityn Clouse and Catherine Klopp combined for 21 kills as Mohawk swept Ridgedale 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play to end the regular season Thursday night at Mohawk. Clouse had 12 kills and a team-leading 12 digs, while Klopp had nine kills and a pair of blocks.

Cory-Rawson scored twice in the first 10 minutes, and that was enough to beat Upper Sandusky 2-0 in a girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday at Upper Sandusky. Paige McVetta scored only 3:22 into the match, and less than six minutes later, Grace Roebke made it 2-0 in favor of the Hornets (9-6-1, 2-3 NCOSA).

Thiel, Randall lead Rams to win

RAWSON — Jaidyn Thiel and Payton Randall connected for goals four times as Upper Sandusky quickly erased an early two-goal deficit to defeat Cory-Rawson 4-2 on Thursday at Cory-Rawson. Matt White scored only 2:46 into the match, and Hunter Bixler converted a penalty kick three minutes later to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead.

Sudlow scores twice in Falcons’ win

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Callie Sudlow scored a pair of goals as Riverdale closed out girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association play with a 3-0 home victory against Van Buren on Wednesday night. Haley Frey got the Falcons (8-6-1, 4-1 NCOSA) on the board first only 4:16 into the match with a goal assisted by Hanna Breidenbach. With just 4:21 left in the first half, Breidenbach assisted Sudlow’s first goal to make it 2-0.

Kuenzli knows the challenge ahead

COLUMBUS — Riverdale junior Andrew Kuenzli knows the challenge that awaits him. Two years after finishing in a tie for 51st place with a 38-over par score of 182 in the boys Division III at the state golf tournament, Kuenzli will compete at state for the second time in his high school career.

Montgomery confident for state

One more event featured

As Brett Montgomery prepares to play in his final high school golf event, he is not especially nervous. The Upper Sandusky senior has played in the state tournament twice before, including once at NorthStar Golf Club. “It’s almost a little bittersweet, my last tournament playing for this school, but this being my third year, I’m a little bit more comfortable,” Montgomery said.

MOAC champion Galion gets sweep of Riverdale

Mid Ohio Athletic Conference champion Galion overwhelmed Riverdale 25-3, 25-13, 25-10 in a nonconference volleyball match Wednesday night at Riverdale. Jaden Ivy had nine kills, while Taylor Keeran added eight kills and Kerrigan Myers seven kills for the Tigers (21-1). Keeran also served five aces. Kate Schieber and Nicole Thomas had 10 digs each, and Kayla Hardy passed out 24 assists.

BWW having USHS night

Upper Sandusky athletes, students, teachers, families and friends are invited to Buffalo Wild Wings in Tiffin from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 11 for Upper Sandusky High School fall and winter sports night. Fifteen percent of all sales during that time will be donated to the Ram Boosters.

SYCAMORE — As the match between the Upper Sandusky and Mohawk volleyball teams progressed, Mohawk senior outside hitter Tess Weinandy and her teammates noticed a weakness in the Rams’ defense. “Going line on them, because their middle back wouldn’t rotate to the line, so the deep corners were open a lot,” Weinandy said of what enabled them to have success offensively.
