Matt Zachmann, of Marion, had the third hole-in-one of the season recently at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. He used a 6-iron on the 166-yard par-3 No. 2. Steve Zachmann witnessed the shot.

Mohawk 8th grade gets win

BUCYRUS — Mohawk’s eighth grade football team defeated Wynford, 48-18, on Tuesday. Jesse Leeth ran for three touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions.

Cards top Pack

The Cardinals shut out the Pakcers, 32-0, in a recent Midget League Football game. Offensively for the Cardinals: Zaiden Fry, 10 carries for 126 yards, 3 TDs; Gavin Frey, 7 carries for 48 yards, 1 pass for 15 yards; Evan Hill, 2 carries for 14 yards, 1 catch for 15 yards.

WHS hosting alumni event

BUCYRUS — Wynford High School will be hosting its second annual football alumni reunion at the Oct. 9 homecoming game against Seneca East. All former players who graduated from WHS and coaches are invited.

Fitness event to begin soon

Hannah Frey, a 2012 Riverdale High School graduate and certified personal fitness trainer, will host a weeklong fitness challenge from Sept. 24 through Oct. 1. The Me vs. Me 1-Week Fitness Challenge invites participants of all ages to perform and record three exercises during a performance day Sept. 24.

Single mistake costs Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale made one critical mistake Wednesday night in a girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association contest with Liberty-Benton, and the Eagles capitalized to grab a 1-0 victory.

Dunlap leads Mohawk past Upper

Billy Dunlap medaled with a 39 to lead Mohawk to a 172-178 victory against Upper Sandusky on Wednesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. With the win, the Warriors (7-1, 6-1 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) keep pace with Carey and Ridgedale, both also 6-1, in the N10 standings.

Tourney set

KENTON — The Hardin County Family YMCA is hosting a men’s “Around the Horn” one-pitch softball tournament Sept. 24-25 at the Home Run Memorial Park Little League fields on Ohio 292 in Kenton. The cost is $175 per team.

Tiffin Columbian edges Wynford

BUCYRUS — Annika Gerlach shot a 46 to earn medalist honors, but Wynford fell short, 204-207, against Tiffin Columbian in a girls golf match Wednesday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. Hayley McCoy and Gretchen Harris both had 52s for the Royals, and Sarah Ogden shot a 57.
