Pirates softball tops Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Bluffton scored three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good and added two runs of insurance in the seventh in a 7-3 non-conference softball victory against Riverdale on Tuesday. Riverdale (10-7) scored twice in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2.

Eagles’ Studer 1-hits Rams in 1-0 win

NORTH ROBINSON — Upper Sandusky has pounded the ball at the plate all season long, but the Rams had never seen a pitcher like Colonel Crawford’s Sydney Studer. The Eagles’ sophomore ace held Upper Sandusky to one hit to lead her team to a 1-0 victory Monday that strengthens their lead in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference.

Falcons edge Black Knights, 2-1

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale kept alive its chances at the Blanchard Valley Conference softball title with a 2-1 victory Monday against Van Buren. With the game moved to Riverdale because of wet field conditions at Van Buren, the Falcons (10-6, 8-2 Blanchard Valley Conference) batted first on their home field and took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Black Knights (10-8, 7-3 BVC) answered in the bottom of the first.

Van Buren scores winning run in 8th

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale baseball’s string of close losses was extended with a 5-4 defeat in eight innings against Van Buren on Monday. The Falcons (9-9, 4-5 Blanchard Valley Conference) made a play in the bottom of the eighth inning to get a runner out at the plate on a bunt attempt.

Qyenton Stone’s 4-hit shutout keeps Royals in N10 baseball lead

BUCYRUS — Qyenton Stone threw a four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead Wynford to a 2-0 victory against Buckeye Central in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play Monday. The win pushes Stone into a tie for the top pitching record with his brother, Trey Stone, both with 5-0 records, and keeps the Royals (13-5, 10-3 N10) in command of the N10.

BC tops Wynford, 11-1

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central scored in all but one inning of an 11-1 softball victory against Wynford in five innings Monday. After one run in the first inning, the Bucks (8-11, 7-5 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) scored four times each in the second and fourth innings and then got two runs in the fifth inning to end it.

Mohawk blanks Arcadia

SYCAMORE — Mohawk scored eight runs in the first inning of an 11-0 win over Arcadia in a non-league baseball game Saturday. The first six Warriors batters of the game recorded hits.
