Loy’s grand slam helps Bucks beat Warriors, 8-6

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central scored four runs each in the third and fourth innings to build a seven-run advantage and then held off Mohawk, 8-6, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Thursday. The Warriors (13-8, 8-6 N10) came back with three runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth, but they left the tying run at the plate in the seventh.

Bluffton tops Riverdale in 12

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Bluffton baseball topped Riverdale, 9-7, in a 12-inning non-league game Tuesday, extending the Falcons’ losing streak to seven games. Each team scored four times in the first inning before Riverdale added runs in the second and the third.

Royals win slugfest to lock up share of N10 baseball title

BUCYRUS — In cold, damp conditions, the Wynford baseball team took an atypical route to the Northern 10 Athletic Conference championship. Winners all season long with pitching and defense, the Royals smashed their way to a 15-8 victory against Bucyrus that clinches them at least a share of the league championship.

Brown delivers in Warriors’ win

CAREY — Parker Brown’s ninth-inning home run was the difference in a 6-5 Mohawk baseball win at Carey on Wednesday. Brown sent Trey Bame on a two-out solo shot, towering over the left-field wall to break a 5-5 tie in the top of the ninth inning.

Shelby run rules Rams, 16-3, in 5 innings

Shelby took advantage of free passes and topped Upper Sandusky, 16-3, in five innings in a non-league game baseball game Wednesday. Rams starter Cody Gabriel (1-3) struggled with his control, walking nine batters with one strikeout.

Falcons blast Rockets in 17-8 win

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale made sure it did not lose another close game by blowing out Pandora-Gilboa, 17-8, on its senior day Wednesday. The Falcons (10-10, 5-5 Blanchard Valley Conference) had lost seven in a row, including five straight by two or less runs, in extra innings or both.

Farmer strikes out 15 in 10-2 win

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale fell behind in the top of the first inning but quickly took control in a 10-2 softball victory Wednesday. The Falcons (11-7, 10-2 Blanchard Valley Conference) scored three times in the bottom of the first to take the lead, added to it with two runs in the third inning and then scored five times in the fifth inning.

Whippets tops Rams in 8

Upper Sandusky smashed 16 hits, but it was not enough in a 12-11 loss in eight innings to Shelby in a non-league softball game Wednesday. Trailing by one, the Whippets tied the game with a run in the sixth inning and won it with one in the eighth.
