Rams boys, girls win quad meet

MARION — Upper Sandusky swimmers set three records while the boys and girls both came away with close wins in a quad meet Wednesday at the Marion YMCA. Kami Swartz re-broke both the 200 IM and 500 free records to lead the Rams girls to a 163-135 victory over Columbus Whetstone.

Seniors deliver late in Upper win

CAREY — When Upper Sandusky needed plays, its seniors stepped up Tuesday night. Sierra Carey knocked down a big 3-pointer for her only basket of the night, and Ayana Getz followed with back-to-back scores as Upper Sandusky held off Carey, 39-34, to remain undefeated on the season and in first place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference.

Harris FT gives Royals OT win

BUCYRUS — Ridgedale came within a point of snapping a 30-game Northern 10 Athletic Conference losing streak in a girls basketball game at Wynford on Tuesday. Gretchen Harris hit the go-ahead free throw in the final seconds of overtime and the Royals sneaked by, 49-48.

Eagles hold off Warriors in overtime

NORTH ROBINSON — Colonel Crawford held on a for a 29-26 overtime victory against Mohawk in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Tuesday night. Chelsey Trusty missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that could have forced a second extra period.

Warriors split

BLOOMDALE — Mohawk beat a partial Patrick Henry team, 38-3, and lost to host Elmwood, 47-18, in a quad meet Tuesday evening. Chet Margraf (138 pounds) wrestled his way to a pair of wins, taking a 12-1 major decision against Patrick Henry’s Brock Gerken and a 6-0 decision against Elmwood’s Christian Aldaco.

Upper, Mohawk to host duals

Upper Sandusky and Mohawk both were seeded second in their sub-regions and will host the regional quarterfinals of the state dual team tournament Jan. 25. The Rams will face No. 7 seed Highland, while No. 3 seed Bexley takes on No. 6 Bishop Hartley at 5 p.m. in Division II sub-region 14A.

Upper teams take 3 of 4 against BC

NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky’s seventh grade girls basketball team rallied from down two points entering the fourth quarter to defeat Buckeye Central, 29-24, on Saturday. Kendra Conley led the Rams with 13 points, while Jenna Kurtz and Madison Byrum had six points each.

OHSAA to host military night

The OHSAA has designated Friday as military appreciation night Friday and is asking schools to honor active and veteran United States Armed Forces members at athletic contests and also requests student sections to have military themes.
