KENTON — Juleigha Collier and the Riverdale girls cross country team won the Hardin County championship Monday at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. The Falcons finished with 34 points to edge Kenton (43 points).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Brooke Gerdeman had 17 kills and six blocks to lead Division IV No. 11 Leipsic to a 25-19, 25-13, 25-17 victory over Riverdale to close out Blanchard Valley Conference play Monday night. Carrol Pauley led the attack for the Falcons (9-11, 4-7 BVC) with 13 kills on 29-of-33 hitting, while Jessica Johnston had eight kills and Cara Pauley added five.

Christopher Swartz gave up bowling about five years ago, but asked by his grandfather, Bill Lambrite, to join him in a league, he gave bowling a second try. Now he is glad he did after bowling a 300 last month just a few weeks into the season.

The Upper Sandusky Cheetahs 10-and-under girls soccer team finished their season 4-4. In their fifth game, the Cheetahs lost to the Liberty-Benton Red Eagles, 7-0.

The Cardinals defeated the Cowboys, 28-8, in a Midget League Football game Sunday. Offensively for the Cardinals: Gavin Frey, 7 carries for 99 yards, 1 TD; Zaiden Fry, 10 carries for 71 yards, 1 TD, 2-point conversion; Evan Hill, 8 carries for 59 yards, 1 TD, 3 completions for 13 yards; Brayden Chester, 3 carries for 17 yards, 1 TD, 2 catches for 13 yards, 2-point conversion.

Riverdale hopes a challenging schedule — although it did not result in many wins early — will produce a better team as the end of the boys soccer season approaches. It did on Saturday with the Falcons taking a 4-1 victory against Upper Sandusky.

Upper Sandusky fought hard enough through its third set against Mohawk to keep everybody around for a fourth Saturday morning. Then, Mohawk did them the courtesy of wrapping things up quickly.

BUCYRUS — After falling behind, 2-1, Wynford rallied to force and win a decisive fifth set in a 25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-8 victory over Seneca East on Saturday. Tara Zinser led the Royals (7-13, 5-9 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) with 12 kills, and setter Jenna Coffman had 11 kills.

FOSTORIA — Trevor Cook took first place to lead Carey to the Black Division championship Saturday in the Fostoria Boosters Invitational. The Blue Devils had a 63-77 advantage over Liberty Center, with Old Fort finishing third with 107 points.

MARION — Madelyn Shasteen was seventh to lead Upper Sandusky in the Marion Harding Invitational on Saturday. The Rams girls were 13th with 334 points.
