Liberty-Benton prevails over Riverdale, 1-0, in double overtime

FINDLAY — Losing in the district finals never leaves a good taste in one’s mouth, but dropping a match to the same team three times in four years by one goal is an even more bitter pill to swallow. That bitterness was all the Riverdale girls soccer team was left with Saturday afternoon after Liberty-Benton’s Jensen Hiegel headed in a cross with 2:20 left in the second overtime to lift the Eagles to a 1-0 victory over the Lady Falcons in a Division II district final match at Findlay High School.

Huron gets favorable call to complete sweep of Mohawk

ATTICA — Mohawk already had fought off a match point, and it appeared the Warriors did so a second time before a call went against them. Addie Thiery’s tip at the net hit the floor to seemingly tie the third set at 26, but an official ruled a Huron player was able to dig the ball, and while everyone stopped playing as fans cheered, the Tigers nonchalantly pushed the ball back over the net for what became the winning point.

Royals total 555 yards

BUCYRUS — Wynford did a little bit of everything Friday night. The Royals rushed for 350 yards and passed for 205 while rolling to a 62-12 victory against Buckeye Central to finish undefeated in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference for the third straight year.

Warriors play complete game in 26-0 victory

SYCAMORE — On defense, Mohawk was stout; on offense, a wrinkle gave it the edge. Running back Parker Brown ran for two touchdowns and threw for another — all out of a direct snap package — as the Warriors turned in perhaps their most complete performance in the last game of the season for a 26-0 shutout of non-league foe Edon.
