Two first half goals proved to be enough for Upper Sandusky to defeat Kenton in girls soccer action Saturday night. Kenton (2-1) made a late push against the Rams (3-1) with a second half goal, but ultimately fell to Upper Sandusky, 3-1.

NORTH ROBINSON — Keely Wentz was the girls winner, and Trevor Cook was boys runner-up as Carey finished second to host Colonel Crawford in both the girls and boys results of Saturday’s Early Bird Invitational. The Eagles boys held a 49-56 advantage over the Blue Devils, while the Eagles girls won, 61-69.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale swept Bucyrus, 25-18, 25-23, 25-18, to get its first volleyball victory of the season. Carrol Pauley and Jessica Johnston led the attack for the Falcons (1-2) with 12 and nine kills, respectively.

SYCAMORE — Nancy Hoover’s Old Fort volleyball team got the best of both of her sons’ teams in a tri-match Saturday at Mohawk. The Stockaders swept Edison and then swept Mohawk, 25-16, 25-20, 25-16.

KENTON — Drew Hoppe’s hat trick proved too much for Upper Sandusky in a 5-2 Kenton boys soccer victory Saturday. Hoppe scored the first goal of the game just beyond the first five minutes, and Hayden Hicks followed with a second Kenton goal less than 10 minutes later.

MILLER CITY — Riverdale outscored Miller City in the first half and hung on for nearly an hour of scoreless play for a 2-1 non-league boys soccer victory on Saturday. Ethan Melroy opened scoring just past the five-minute mark in the first half on an assist by Ben Gannon, and after Josh Recker’s equalizer at the seven-minute mark, Gannon turned in the winning goal off an assist by Taylor Bacon at 21:51 in the first half.

TIFFIN — Upper Sandusky pushed to force a fourth set but came up short, getting swept, 25-15, 25-14, 26-24, by Tiffin Columbian on Saturday.

CONTINENTAL — Six different players scored as Riverdale’s girls soccer team defeated Continental, 6-2, on Saturday. Lexie Wright, Katie Benitez, Ashlyn Fadley, Faith Williams, Alex Rothlisberger and Brooke McKamey had goals for the Falcons (2-0).

ATTICA — Mohawk’s Anna Stillberber was eighth to lead local runners Saturday in the Tiger Classic at Seneca East. Mohawk’s girls took sixth place in the White Division with 157 points, while Wynford was 11th with 258 points.
