The Blue Streaks (5-0-1) got a Denver Beck goal at the 15:21 mark in the first half after a corner kick produced a scramble for the ball in front of the net.

NORTH BALTIMORE — Trey Bame shot an 81 to lead Carey to a third-place finish Saturday in the North Baltimore Tiger Invitational at Birch Run Golf Course. The Blue Devils shot a 339 to finish behind Van Buren with a 298 and Lincolnview with a 331 in the 12-team field.

McCOMB — Ranked No. 4 in Division IV in today’s state volleyball poll, McComb powered past Carey, 25-15, 25-16, 25-14, on Saturday. Sydney Kin was 26-of-30 hitting with 11 kills, went 9-of-10 serving with an ace, and added 10 digs and two blocks for the Blue Devils (6-4).

MARION — Pleasant swept Wynford, 25-9, 25-21, 25-16, in a non-conference volleyball match Saturday. Leah Maniaci had 10 kills, Lydia DePrey had eight, and Laina Sansotta finished with seven for the Spartans (6-3).

BOWLING GREEN — A pair of Upper Sandusky High School graduates will share the volleyball court again — this time as opponents. Jessi Holly, a freshman at Bowling Green State University, will go up against Taylor Graboski, a Valparaiso University junior, when the Division I universities meet in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green. …

SYCAMORE — Blake Treisch did not beat Mohawk by himself; he just put the numbers on the scoreboard. The senior running back scored all of Colonel Crawford’s points in a 24-8 victory, with 156 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries, two 2-point conversions and a late safety.

Upper Sandusky coach Chris Rodriguez took a risk calling a two-point conversion to take the lead in the final minutes of Friday’s game against cross-county rival Carey. He wound up with a one-point loss.

NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore found success through the air early and then used its running game and defense to finish off a 31-19 victory against Riverdale on Friday night.

BUCYRUS — Wynford bullied Ridgedale for 48 points in the first quarter of a 68-22 Northern 10 Athletic Conference victory on Friday. Quarterback Zach Hoffman led the Royals (3-0, 2-0 N10) with eight touchdowns.

MARION — Mohawk finished six strokes out of first place, taking second place Friday in the Marion Harding Invitational at Marion Country Club.
