ARCADIA — Coach Paul Dunn was victorious against his former team as Mohawk won its third straight game, 43-40, at Arcadia on Saturday night. The Warriors (8-14) trailed 12-9 after one quarter, tied the game at 19 by halftime, and the teams entered the fourth quarter still tied.

Upper Sandusky withstood one half of back-and-forth basketball before it pulled away from the Northern 10 Athletic Conference runner-up in a runaway second half. A 63-36 win over Colonel Crawford sealed Upper’s second-straight season with a 22-0 record.

NEW WASHINGTON — Defense was the key Friday night. On a night when it struggled on offense, Wynford got a pair of late stops and held off a Buckeye Central rally attempt, 37-34, to close out the regular season.

FOSTORIA — Mohawk advanced seven of its nine wrestlers to the semifinals Friday evening and is in first place after one day of Division III sectional wrestling at Fostoria. The Warriors have 58.5 points to lead Carey by 5.5 points.

ATTICA — Carey rolled to a 73-50 victory over Seneca East to wrap up Northern 10 Athletic Conference play on the final Friday night of the season. The Blue Devils led 12-9 after one quarter and 29-21 at halftime.

VAN BUREN — Van Buren won every quarter of a 62-29 victory over Riverdale on Friday. The Black Knights led 11-6 after one quarter and 26-17 at halftime before running far ahead, 46-21, by the end of the third quarter.

Upward Basketball at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church recently collected almost 2,000 non-perishable food items to donate to the Christian Food Pantry. Upper Sandusky’s Jeff Winslow was named the co-coach of the year in Division II, and Upper Sandusky’s Wes Vent in Division II, Carey’s Cody Luzader in Division III and Wynford’s Jack Reed in Division IV all were first-team picks to the District 6 boys basketball teams.

Riverdale’s Sydney Holderman was player of the year in Division III to lead area All-District 6 girls basketball selections. Upper Sandusky’s Abigail Fogle in Division II, Mohawk’s Chelsey Trusty in Division III and Carey’s Sydney Kin in Division IV also were first-team picks.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk summer league baseball and softball sign-ups are 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday and March 4 in the Mohawk High School cafeteria.
