MORRAL — Upper Sandusky edged Ridgedale, 19-18, in a seventh grade girls basketball game Thursday. Madison Byrum led the Rams with seven points, while Grace Vent scored six points.

MARION — Upper Sandusky’s boys and girls came away winners in an eight-team swim meet Wednesday evening at the Marion YMCA. The Rams boys scored 241 points to blow away the competition, with Northridge finishing second with 93 points.

Upper Sandusky High School and Wyandot Memorial Hospital are partnering for athlete-centered injury care and prevention at home sporting events and practices.

CAREY — Carey High School announced Wednesday that former assistant coach Jonathon Mershman will be its next head football coach. Mershman replaces Todd Worst, who went 80-36 over 11 years as the head coach of the Blue Devils. The DC-U will have more on the hire Friday.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk nearly doubled up Vanlue, 49-25, in a non-league boys basketball game Tuesday. It was a matchup of two teams looking for their second win in a row after a streak of losses.

NORTH ROBINSON — With Colonel Crawford slowing the pace Tuesday night, Upper Sandusky had to make the most of every possession it got. The Rams did that in the third quarter, scoring 17 points in nine trips down the floor to get separation and eventually take a 29-19 victory to stay undefeated halfway through Northern 10 Athletic Conference play.

CAREY — Sydney Kin had 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead Carey to a 56-43 victory against Seneca East in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Tuesday night. Bry Curlis added 10 points, while Destiny DeFeo had only three points but tallied seven assists and four steals for the Blue Devils (8-3, 6-2 N10).

BUCYRUS — Buckeye Central is challenging enough as it is, and Wynford had to go into its battle with the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s second-place team without its top two players. The result was a 79-24 victory by the Bucks.

Upper Sandusky’s boys basketball team is ranked first in the state in Division II in the season’s first state poll released Monday evening. The Rams (12-0) earned 87 points in the poll to edge Trotwood-Madison by three points and Ottawa-Glandorf by three five points.

Upper Sandusky’s junior high wrestling team placed fourth Saturday in the Fostoria dual meet tournament. The Rams beat Fostoria, 87-6; Gibsonburg, 7-16; and Van Buren, 76-18; and had close 48-45 losses to Elmwood and Findlay Glenwood.
