COLUMBUS — The 14th annual Ohio Youth Basketball Team State Championships for boys and girls in the third through sixth grades are Feb. 25-26 in Columbus. There are separate divisions based on school size.

NORTH ROBINSON — Upper Sandusky verified its recent state No. 1 ranking in a big way, scoring the game’s first 12 points and then burying Colonel Crawford with Eli Kinley’s barrage of 3-pointers in the third quarter of an 82-54 road victory Saturday night.

BUCYRUS — An improbable finish left Wynford the winner of a game against county rival Buckeye Central that swung like a pendulum Friday night. The Royals topped the Bucks 51-50 on a Zach Hoffman 3 with six seconds remaining in overtime.

CAREY — Jevyn Pratt led the way as four Carey wrestlers won their weight divisions in the first Carey Classic round robin tournament in the new school building Saturday.

NAPOLEON — Mohawk went 2-3 on Saturday to finish 4-5 overall in the Gold Medal Duals at Napoleon. The Warriors beat Westerville Central, 60-16, and Rossford, 42-35. They lost to Liberty Center, 40-18, to Genoa, 63-15, and to Elida, 43-26, on Saturday.

Noah Clary and Noah Frey both were champions as Upper Sandusky finished third among 34 scoring teams this weekend in the Marion County Invitational at the Marion County Fairgrounds Coliseum. Connor Johnston finished second, Matt Luikart was third, and Brandon Derr had a fifth-place finish. Clary (160 pounds) had two pins in pool play Friday and continued to dominate Saturday …

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Ridgemont pulled away from Riverdale in a non-league basketball game, 68-59, Saturday. Trevor Stover had 33 points and Trenton Sparks had 22 for Ridgemont (3-8).

SYCAMORE — Fostoria had a big second half to defeat Mohawk, 55-43, in a non-conference boys basketball game Saturday night.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The heavyweights traded their share of blows in Arlington’s 55-49 victory over Riverdale on Friday night. Noah Hough made 9 of 11 foul shots, scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Falcons (2-8, 0-5 Blanchard Valley Conference), but he was bested by Logan Speyer, who had seven boards with 18 points, including four big ones in the fourth quarter to help the Red Devils (4-5, 2-3 BVC) pull ahead on the road against a rival.

BUCYRUS — Bucyrus made shots when it mattered most — and even a free throw. Alivia Lewis’ three-point play forced overtime, and Jacie Everett scored the go-ahead basket in the extra session to lift the Redmen to a 43-39 victory against Wynford on a night when making even the easiest of shots was not a given.
