FOSTORIA — Carey found the offense that eluded it the night before and is back into the Division IV district final following Wednesday’s 13-7 victory against North Baltimore at Fostoria. The Blue Devils (14-5) smacked 14 hits, built an early lead with a five-run second inning and then answered every comeback try by the No. 2 seed Tigers (19-6).

CLYDE — The Mohawk baseball team struggled to find an offensive rhythm against one of the top pitchers in the area Wednesday as the Warriors fell to Calvert 13-1 in six innings in the district tournament semi-finals. Mohawk found itself with an early deficit. After collecting two outs to open the game, Wyatt Cook gave up five runs on a wild pitch, a run walked in and an RBI double and single.

GALION — Ryan Lane just wouldn’t let Wynford back in the game. The New London pitcher struck out 14 batters to lead his team to a 3-1 victory over the Royals in a Division IV district semifinal Wednesday at Galion. He allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk.

DEFIANCE — Upper Sandusky’s Shane Pack and Katie Conley qualified for regionals during the first day of the Division II district track and field meet Wednesday at Defiance. Pack finished third in the boys shot put with a throw of 48-2.5, and Conley was second in the high jump at 5-0.

ARCADIA — Riverdale won a continuation of a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game against Arcadia, 8-3, before taking a second, non-league game against the Redskins, 19-1, on Thursday.

MORRAL — Mohawk jumped ahead, fell behind and then surged back ahead in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game at Ridgedale on Wednesday, holding on for a 9-8 victory.

SHELBY — Momentum can be a big thing in softball, and once Mohawk got it, the Warriors did not let it go. Mohawk strung together four straight two-out hits in the third inning and got a Hannah Jordan grand slam in the fifth to roll to a 9-2 victory against Monroeville in a Division IV district semifinal game Tuesday evening at Shelby.

CAREY — Hannah Martin threw a one-hitter, and Seneca East used two unearned runs in the first inning to beat Carey, 2-0, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Tuesday. Martin’s performance, which included three walks and 10 strikeouts, outshadowed that of Carey freshman Bridget Mullholand (1-1).

The Elks Soccer Shoot is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Upper Sandusky High School soccer field. Registration is from 9-10 a.m.
