Area fall sports teams unaffected by competitive balance

COLUMBUS — The OHSAA's competitive balance formula has been applied for the first time, but with minimal effect on divisions, especially for local schools. The OHSAA announced divisions for fall sports Thursday and applied its new formula that adds a count to schools' base enrollments for players who come from outside of the school's geographical district or area.

Wynford softball tops Ridgedale for 1st win

MORRAL — Wynford softball earned its first win of the season Wednesday with a 10-7 weather-shortened victory at Ridgedale. A Rockets player suffered a severe concussion in the seventh inning, and the game was called during the delay because of lightning.

Reading role models

Riverdale’s Alec Loveridge reads to students at Riverdale Elementary School this week. The Falcons baseball team is reading to students in kindergarten through second grade during the season.
