ARCADIA — Riverdale’s baseball team scored five times in the top of the seventh inning to take an 8-3 lead on Arcadia, but the game was suspended because of lightning and will have to be completed on a date to be determined. The teams were tied at 3 after six innings.

Pinch runner Jack Smith just beat the throw home to score the winning run from second base on Sam Musgrave’s hit up the middle, giving Upper Sandusky a 10-9 come-from-behind win against Hopewell-Loudon and a split of a doubleheader Saturday. The Chieftains won the first game, 10-6.

McGUFFEY — Riverdale dominated a baseball doubleheader against Upper Scioto Valley, winning 14-0 and 24-1, on Saturday. The Falcons (7-1) pushed their winning streak to seven since a season-opening 5-4 loss to Carey.

Upper Sandusky swept Hopewell-Loudon, 3-0 and 7-1, in a softball doubleheader Saturday. The Rams (5-4) scored all of the first game’s runs in the bottom of the first inning.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk finished the week 5-0 with a sweep of South Central, 13-0 and 3-1, on Saturday. The Warriors (6-1) took advantage of a wild pitcher to start the opener. Five walks and a hit batter started the game in a seven-run first inning.

SHELBY — Destini Oler won the 800 run and was first in two relays and second in another to lead Mohawk to a seventh-place finish Saturday in the Shelby Invitational. Ontario edged Shelby for first, 98-94. Mohawk scored 45 points, and Wynford was 15th with nine points.

BASCOM — Upper Sandusky’s junior varsity baseball team defeated Hopewell-Loudon, 15-5, on Saturday.

OAK HARBOR — Upper Sandusky’s boys tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Oak Harbor, 5-0, and Bellevue, 3-2. The 5-0 win against the Rockets was part of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association team tournament and advances the Rams to play against Norwalk in the next round April 25.

VAN BUREN — Led by its relays, the Carey girls track and field team came up just short of winning the Doug Mowery Invitational on Friday night at Van Buren. Arlington edged Carey, 140-138, for first place, with Van Buren right behind with 136 points.

Riverdale High School senior Trey Miller (center, seated) signs his letter of intent to attend Adrian College in Adrian, Mich. where he will compete for the Bulldogs on the baseball diamond at the NCAA Division III level.
