Eagles hand Falcons 1st BVC loss

FINDLAY — Wyatt Young doubled in two runs in the first inning and Liberty-Benton never gave up the lead in a 7-3 Blanchard Valley Conference baseball victory over Riverdale on Wednesday. The Eagles added a run in the bottom of the third inning, two in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Schneider pitches shutout

NEW WASHINGTON — Arik Schneider threw a four-hit shutout to lead Upper Sandusky baseball to a 4-0 victory at Buckeye Central on Wednesday. Schneider (1-2) walked none and struck out four as the Rams (6-7, 4-1 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) won their fourth straight game.

Rams score 11 in 3rd inning

NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky overcame a three-run Buckeye Central first inning by scoring 11 times in the third inning and three more times in the fourth in a five-inning 14-3 Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball victory Wednesday.

Upper junior high teams win

MORRAL — Upper Sandusky’s boys and girls junior high track and field teams won a tri-meet Monday at Ridgedale. The Rams girls scored 82 points, with the Rockets topping Buckeye Central, 37-19, for second.

Eagles top Falcons, 18-1

FINDLAY — Liberty-Benton topped Riverdale, 18-1, in a five-inning Blanchard Valley Conference softball game Wednesday. The Falcons (0-9, 0-5 BVC) scored on a Janessa Taylor RBI single in the top of the first inning.

Chicken BBQ to benefit USHS athletics

Fairhaven Community will sponsor a chicken barbecue drive-thru fundraiser from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday with all proceeds supporting the Upper Sandusky High School athletic department. Meals include half a chicken, bacon and cheese scalloped potatoes, green beans and a roll.
