USHS hosting invite Saturday

The 14th annual Upper Sandusky High School Gerald Swankhouse Invitational is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the USHS athletic complex. Kenton, Lexington, Mohawk, Northmor, Oak Harbor, Port Clinton and River Valley are competing this year along with the Rams. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for students. No passes will be accepted.

Eagles top Blue Devils, 5-1

CAREY — Colonel Crawford stayed atop the Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball standings with a 5-1 victory against Carey on Tuesday. The Eagles (11-1, 7-1 N10) scored three times in the third inning and then two more times in the fifth inning.

Rams win with altered lineup

Upper Sandusky mixed up its lineup Tuesday but still came away with a 4-1 victory against Bucyrus. With the Redmen forfeiting at both No. 2 and 3 singles, the Rams (9-2) needed to take only one match to come away a winner, and they got that quickly with a 6-0, 6-0 No. 1 doubles victory by Noah Frey and Alex Brodman against Alex Moore and Clay Schiefer.

Frey shuts down Ada in Riverdale win in Toledo

TOLEDO — After giving up two runs in the first inning, Wayne Frey shut out Ada the rest of the way in a 7-2 Riverdale victory Tuesday night at 5/3 Field in Toledo. The Falcons (8-4) took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the first, and they added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings with a two-run fifth in between.

7-run inning lifts Royals

BUCYRUS — Wynford scored seven times in the fourth inning of an 8-6 victory against Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Tuesday. Bucyrus (1-9, 1-5 N10) scored three times in the first inning and led 6-1 before Wynford (4-6, 2-5 N10) had its big inning.

Wynford rally falls short

BUCYRUS — Bucyrus scored 13 times in the first inning and then held on to beat Wynford, 15-12, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Tuesday. The Royals (5-6, 5-2 N10) chipped away at the deficit, scoring twice in the second inning, three times in the third and the fourth and twice each in the fifth and sixth innings, but Gavin Lewis closed out the Bucyrus win with a perfect seventh inning that included two strikeouts.
