SYCAMORE — A pair of doubles in the sixth inning turned Mohawk into a 2-1 winner against Ridgedale on Monday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game.

Upper Sandusky (16-4) received a No. 4 seed and a bye into the sectional finals to face No. 5 Vermilion (13-4) at 5 p.m. May 12 in softball tournament draws held Sunday. No. 7 Norwalk (11-6) and No. 8 Ontario meet in one of the first-round games at 5 p.m. May 9, and the winner gets No. 2 Bellevue as part of the Edison district.

FINDLAY — Carey’s girls were third and the boys were ninth Saturday in the Liberty-Benton Invitational. The host Eagles topped Ottawa-Glandorf, 118-90, for first place, and Carey was third with 64.5 points.

Mohawk earned the No. 1 seed in its district and a bye into the sectional finals in tournament baseball draws held Sunday. No. 7 Fremont St. Joseph (5-6) and No. 9 Vanlue (2-11) meet in one of the sectional semifinals, all of which are scheduled for 5 p.m. May 9, and the winner travels to Mohawk (14-3) for one of the 5 p.m.

Upper Sandusky High School will host a tennis camp for boys and girls entering grades 6-9 from 10-11:30 a.m. 6-9 from June 7-9 and 14-16 at the USHS tennis courts. The camp is being organized through the United States Tennis Association’s Midwest Team Tennis initiative, and with completed on-time registration, each camper receives a tennis racket, T-shirt, ball, player bag and a USTA junior membership.

Upper Sandusky High School will be hosting sports camps this summer. A baseball clinic will be held for students rising into grades 2-7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20.

SYCAMORE — Avita is providing free physicals to Mohawk students from 4-8 p.m. May 22 at Buckeye Central. Students from Buckeye Central, Seneca East and Plymouth also are invited.

Upper Sandusky High School and SportsCare at Wyandot Memorial Hospital are offering athletic physicals May 30 in the USHS gymnasium. WMH staff and local chiropractors and optometrists will provide physical exams for a $15 donation to the athletic department to be used for the purchase of supplies.

BUCYRUS — Mohawk’s girls edged Upper Sandusky, 97-87, for the championship Friday in the Wynford Junior High Invitational. Colonel Crawford came in third with 81 points, while Wynford was eighth with 30.5 points, Carey was ninth with 22 points, and Our Lady of Consolation came in 11th with 17 points.

SYCAMORE — After an extra-inning loss to Upper Sandusky on Wednesday, the Mohawk baseball team wanted to make sure to take care of business right away Friday. The Warriors scored seven runs in the first inning and also had a six-run fourth inning, beating the Rams, 16-4, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game.
