Falcons fail to capitalize in loss

HARROD — The Riverdale Falcons had their opportunities to capitalize against Allen East, but it was the Mustangs who came up big in critical situations, taking the 7-1 Division III sectional baseball win on Wednesday. After surrendering one run in the first inning, Riverdale (9-12) looked ready to answer in the second.

Carey blasts 6 home runs in 23-1 victory

CAREY — Carey smashed 13 extra-base hits, including six home runs in routing Bucyrus, 23-1, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Wednesday. Dani Berardinelli-Clark hit her fifth and sixth home runs of the season and also doubled and singled while driving in five runs and scoring three times.

JV teams get wins

The Upper Sandusky junior varsity softball team completed its season with a 16-6 victory against Colonel Crawford in six innings Tuesday. Maddie Schwilk had two triples and a single, and Hananah McKinniss had a triple and a single.

Seniors Brown, Williamson pitch Royals to win

CRESTLINE — Wynford plated three runs in the first inning and pitched a pair of seniors to an 8-3 victory at Crestline on Monday in a sectional semifinal. The No. 7 seed Royals (9-11) advance to play at No. 4 Ridgemont, which was an 11-0 winner over Mansfield Christian, at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Royals finish strong to get win

BUCYRUS — Buckeye Central took an early lead, but Wynford’s offense overwhelmed in a 10-6 Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Tuesday. The Bucks scored four times in the first inning, and after the Royals scored three times in the second inning, Buckeye Central went up 6-3 with two runs in the third.
