Upper girls tennis falls, 4-1, to Pleasant

MARION — Jodi Smalley got a win for Upper Sandusky at first singles, but Pleasant won the rest of the matches to take a 4-1 victory in a girls tennis match Wednesday. Two of the Spartans’ four wins were in three sets, and another was in a closely-contested two-set match.

Buckeye Central holds off Mohawk

SYCAMORE — Mohawk played well late, but league favorite Buckeye Central held on for a 25-18, 25-19, 13-25, 25-23 victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Tuesday night. Runners-up to the Bucks in the N10 last year, the Warriors (0-1, 0-1 N10) got down double-digits early in the second set but picked up their play after that.

Carey opens N10 play with sweep of CC

NORTH ROBINSON — Carey managed a road sweep against one of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s better teams, defeating Colonel Crawford, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20, on Tuesday evening. Hannah Zimmerman led a balanced offensive attack with 13 kills on 29-of-32 hitting.

Royals get 2nd sweep in a row

BUCYRUS — The Wynford volleyball team earned its second sweep in as many nights, beating Bucyrus, 27-25, 25-20, 25-19, on Tuesday evening. The Royals (2-1, 1-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) swept Crestline on Monday evening.
