MORRAL — Mohawk jumped ahead, fell behind and then surged back ahead in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game at Ridgedale on Wednesday, holding on for a 9-8 victory.

SHELBY — Momentum can be a big thing in softball, and once Mohawk got it, the Warriors did not let it go. Mohawk strung together four straight two-out hits in the third inning and got a Hannah Jordan grand slam in the fifth to roll to a 9-2 victory against Monroeville in a Division IV district semifinal game Tuesday evening at Shelby.

CAREY — Hannah Martin threw a one-hitter, and Seneca East used two unearned runs in the first inning to beat Carey, 2-0, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Tuesday. Martin’s performance, which included three walks and 10 strikeouts, outshadowed that of Carey freshman Bridget Mullholand (1-1).

The Elks Soccer Shoot is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Upper Sandusky High School soccer field. Registration is from 9-10 a.m.

Mohawk junior high and high school students recently heard from 2004 alum Aubrey Walton via teleconference during the inaugural Warrior Nation Awards.

GALION — The Mohawk baseball team dropped a 9-1 decision to Galion in a warm-up Monday for this week’s district tournament. The Tigers (17-8) scored four times in the first inning, twice each in the fourth and fifth innings and once in the sixth inning.

ARLINGTON — Arlington completed a 15-5 victory against Riverdale in five innings in a Blanchard Valley Conference softball game Monday. The game was a completion of one stopped by bad weather earlier in the season.

The Andersons walked off a 10-9 winner against Positive Image in a girls slowpitch softball game Wednesday.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk’s Austin Harper made a strong case as to why he ought to defend his Northern 10 Athletic Conference Player of the Year award in a 7-2 victory over Carey. On the pitching mound, he struck out 10 in a complete game with two walks, five hits and one earned run allowed, and at the plate, he broke open the game and chased Carey starter Brayden Wentling with a three-run double in the fifth inning.
