ATTICA — The tone for the entire game was set on the first offensive possessions for Seneca East and Upper Sandusky Friday night in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game. Upper Sandusky went three-and-out, while Seneca East scored in just three plays: a 27-yard dash from Brock Martin followed by a 10-yard run from Martin and an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chase Foos to junior wideout D.J. Ruffing.

SYCAMORE — In a game that could have been billed as a defensive showdown, Mohawk and Wynford lived up to expectations. The Royals made a halftime adjustment and got in the end zone on a screen pass on their second drive of the third quarter. That was the only score in a 7-0 victory over the Warriors.

CAREY – Coming off its first loss of the season, Carey’s football team looked to recapture its focus and play to its strength as it welcomed in Troy Christian for a non-conference game Friday night.

RAWSON — Riverdale made plenty of mistakes, but it also made enough plays to overcome them. Aidan Loveridge had 208 yards from scrimmage, and Alec Loveridge contributed to all three touchdowns in a 21-14 Falcons victory over Cory-Rawson. The Falcons (4-2, 2-2 Blanchard Valley Conference) won despite five turnovers.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — In a match between Riverdale and Ada that had seen two yellow cards for overly-aggressive play, the deciding factor came down to one instance where Ada was too physical in the wrong place at the wrong time.

GALION — Riverdale’s Andrew Kuenzli and Wynford’s Josh Crall advanced to district play Thursday during Division III sectional boys golf tournament play at Valley View Golf Course.

ARLINGTON — Carey qualified for districts as a team for the third straight year with a runner-up finish Thursday in Division III sectional boys golf play at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Van Buren ran away with the team title with a 305, while Carey had a sizeable advantage over the third district qualifying team, New Riegel, which shot a 361. Bluffton missed advancing by three strokes.

BUCYRUS — Carey staved a scare in its first set Thursday at Wynford. With a 24-17 lead, the Blue Devils allowed the Royals to rally back to tie the opening game at 24, only to close things out quickly thereafter and cruise to a 26-24, 25-14, 25-12 victory.

Upper Sandusky swept singles play to take a 3-2 victory against Bucyrus on Thursday in girls tennis action.

Audrey Boes scored a hat trick, and Jenna Rodriguez passed out three assists as the Upper Sandusky girls soccer team took an 8-0 victory against River Valley on Thursday.
